Lindela Under Lockdown

During level 5 of the national lockdown a Congolese man is detained at Lindela, the largest facility for the holding of undocumented migrants in South Africa. In an effort to expose the gross human rights violations that he is subjected to, and the lack of safety regulations around Covid-19, he leaks cell phone video footage to his older brother on the outside.

Sihle Hlophe
Sihle Hlophe is an award-winning filmmaker and a multi-degree earner.
She has directed three short films that have been screened at over fourty film festivals around the world. She has worked as a scriptwriter and storyliner on popular TV shows such as Lockdown, Scandal and Broken Vows.
She is also the producer and director of a feature-length documentary, Lobola, A Bride’s True Price, due for release in 2021.
Sihle Hlophe is an alumni of the IDFAcademy (the Netherlands) and the Hot Docs Blue Ice Group Story Lab (Canada).
